in a joint venture with garbe industrial real estate gmbH, propertyteam ag is developing a new production property for the photovoltaic manufacturer sma near kassel.
sma solar technology ag is a German technology company that is a global leader in the field of photovoltaic system technology. sma solar technology ag develops, produces and sells components for the photovoltaic industry. the group of companies focuses on the production of solar inverters. these are needed to convert the direct current generated from solar modules into alternating current, which can be fed into the electricity grid.
by the summer of 2024, a total of approx. 20,500 m2 of halls, 2,200 m2 of office space and 1,450 m2 of social and cafeteria space will be built on a 4.7 ha plot in the sandershäuser berg industrial estate to high sustainability standards, e.g., solar power, no fossil fuels, ventilation with heat recovery, and extensive sealing of the hall to protect the groundwater in the event of accidents (water management act/whg). A full-area solar power system, with a green roof at the same time, will be installed with a peak of 1,150 kW, which will cover a large part of the electricity demand of the expansion.
not only does the building meet all esg criteria, but so does the tenant: sma is part of the selected group of finalists for the "2022 german sustainability award in the transformational field of climate protection". dnp is the most renowned sustainability award for companies in Europe.
with the extension, which sma will use as a long-term tenant, the company wants to roughly double its production capacity at the location, thereby creating more than 200 new jobs for the region.
